Roger Grandstaff
Roger Grandstaff,
finally figured out how to post to "the wall"... I think...
I can see I'm going to need some training on the new website...
I ran across this error message a couple of times earlier in the week..

“Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /chroot/home/fourqfor/4qf.org/html/templates/rt_panacea_j15/html/modules.php on line 106”

It seemed to be "floating" at the top of the window and sometimes at the bottom as well...
Haven't the foggiest idea about what it about but figured I'd pass it on...

Also, it may be a problem unique to my setup but I have my logins saved to Norton's Identity Safe...
But it is having trouble distinguishing between the Website login and the forum login... is there any way to change my forum login to match what i use on the website?

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 15:25

Roger
For now I have max error reporting turned on, those were errors from diddling with setups. should be good now.

I do not think that norton is smart enough. Sometime this year we will move to a joomla native forum which will use your website login. Ditto for the shopping cart as well. Joomla is issuing a magor version change and we have to wait for that, about six months

test2
test2,
This is a sample question on the BoD group wall. And a real question too. Are any of you experiencing photo upload glitches? I have a few reports and am working on it.

I have been having some issues with profile photo uploads - haven't tried the gallery yet. Had some other JomSocial quirkiness last night that resolved with a good cookie-clearing and relog.

Running Firefox 3.6.13

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 10:50

John cant upload here at the office, seems to be a deep issue with php.ini settings, I have mailed Voxcel for support. Quirky ness is that I managed to crash parts of the system, now resolved, steep learning curve-smile. And if you are logged into both the back and front end, the cookie settings do get confused.
Mark, added you as an admin for this group.

I was starting to notice that back/front end issue. Ah well. Today I'm hunting for CSS bugs so we can have borders on the text input boxes back. The general Community Portal logins are already fixed.

Were you updating JomSocial? I noticed we have new icons for some of the items.

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:02

Yes, installed their new major upgrade and their default template

I did not know you hacked php css. Feel free. And perhaps you can figure out why the login module appears on the profile page of jomsocial.

Mark HargreavesMark Hargreaves on Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:29

I'm out of practice of the fancier, slicker css tricks. But I can track down basic styles, and can read them well enough to know what's wrong. You should see borders on all the text boxes now, no more open boxes floating in a white expanse. Point me at any if you do, please. Not that I don't like to think outside the box...

The profile bit sounds like a jomsocial template issue. Let's have a look...

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:37

Nice picture, and the pic gallery comments field has no text box border.

The errant module is in the template, make sure you document these changes, as they will have to be made every time we upgrade!

Mark HargreavesMark Hargreaves on Saturday, 12 February 2011 11:42

So far, that's the only one that I can upload - every other attempt just hangs.

Mark HargreavesMark Hargreaves on Saturday, 12 February 2011 12:09

OK. Specific problem located. JomSocial is generating a bad link for the profiles. The links are all based on:

http://www.4qf.org/index.php/login-logout-or-create-an-account/profile

but should be

http://www.4qf.org/index.php/community/four-quarters-community/profile

Try that 2nd link yourself and see if it gives you a profile page without the login module showing. I'll look at the templates and see if I can follow the javascript enough to figure out why it's doing that.

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 12:36

Mark, I assume you get the same error when you view your profile, and yes, your link gives a clean page. Would you like me to mail you our user/pass for support at jomsocial, we are a registered customer

Also, look in menu manager, "community login" for the way the login link is setup, it can be overridden

Probably wouldn't hurt to go perusing their forums. Will have a look at that link once you're done - it's checked out by Admin for the time being.

Mark HargreavesMark Hargreaves on Saturday, 12 February 2011 13:42

I believe the issue is resolved. I changed the menu link to point at the JomSocial frontpage instead of the login page. It's behaving on my end now.

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Saturday, 12 February 2011 15:13

Mark, works for me too.

Voxel just loaded a new "imagemagic" to our PHP, I will set it up ad hopefully it will fix the upload problems, about 30 minutes

Mark
Try to upload photos, works for me

Another tweak on the JomSocial link, now using a URL to point at the frontpage component. It seems to insist on creating a link based on the menu link's alias if you point the link at any of the JomSocial components. Strange.

Photo uploads look good, it even worked across networked machines here, with decent speed.

on Saturday, 12 February 2011 17:35

Just uploaded a few from my end with no problem. But what about an app to add info about the pic?

on Saturday, 12 February 2011 17:49

Opps: Found it. Can edit info after photo is uploaded.

Eric_FierkeEric_Fierke on Saturday, 12 February 2011 20:50

Orren, haven't started uploading pictures because I have, literally, thousands. Do you know if the upcoming version of jomsocial might have picasa integration available? Otherwise I could upload a 'best of' gallery here.

Orren WhiddonOrren Whiddon on Sunday, 13 February 2011 11:42

Eric
This is a good question which may have a tech solution. Join me on the new "How to use the website" group, and we can discuss.

This thread is now closed.

Labyrinth_LadyLabyrinth_Lady on Monday, 14 February 2011 10:29

Hi Orren; I was able to upload the picture. Whatever changes you and Kit are doing seems good to me. There are boxes and things to click where there were not before. Keep up the good work!
