Four Quarters Youth Group Circle

Family Weekend Event: Fri July 25th - Sun July 27th, 2008

Our circle is done virtually through the winter and in between festivals due to the distance that many of our scouts live from Four Quarters. Many families have no other resource for their children but still want their children involved in something. We have monthly topics in our private Yahoo group where children can share their experiences, pictures, videos, and have scheduled chat/webcam sessions with other children in the circle. The topics are led through the Yahoo group by an adult parent or leader. The topic leader will focus on a badge that can be earned by all levels of scouts. The leader will also give suggestions, instructions, and links to resources to work on badges. Then when the child is able to attend an event at Four Quarters the badge will be presented to them in a public ceremony.

There are also several activities planned for ALL children, regardless of their scouting registration at most Four Quarters events. Many of these activities can be applied to a badge and are led by various volunteers. There is also the Kids Weekend when children will have the entire weekend to earn badges and have lots of fun. Learn more about it below.

The children are divided into 3 age groups: Scouts in ritual

FireFlies- Ages 3 to 7
SpiralScouts- Ages 8-11
Pathfinders- Ages 12-18

All children are required to register with SpiralScouts International through Holly in order to receive badges.
Registration is $15 per child per year, plus parents must pay for badges. Badges range from $2 to $5 on average.
If you would like to sign your child up or have other questions please email Holly Taylor Florczyk.

Spiral Scouts Family Weekend

This weekend is open to all children and their families regardless of their affiliation and is sponsored by Four Quarters to provide a community of support and a loving place to lead our next generation. The weekend is open to individual families that are NOT scouts, already established scout circles and hearths, and families looking to learn more about SpiralScouts.

We believe that children are our future, and we hope to educate and strengthen our next generation. We will bring children away from the digital world for a little while and teach them the blessings of nature, the warmth of family, and the wisdom of skills. The weekend is packed full of workshops based on the SpiralScouts program; led by volunteers who have been called to share their wisdom with the next generation.

Workshops range from arts to nature, designing rituals to practical skills like swimming, archery and fire building. We host a "Glitter Derby" based on the Pinewood Derby wooden racing cars famous in youth groups around the globe (may not be in this year's schedule- call us). There will be nightly Fire Circles where drumming, dancing, and stories fill the early hours of darkness. Children learn best when things are fun, open, and full of togetherness. Our goal is to ensure that each child has the time of their lives and that each of them will learn a new skill, learn something about themselves, and make a new friend. Maybe the adults will learn something, too!
