The Board of Directors
at Four Quarters
From the January 2006 Members Muse

One of the great strengths of Four Quarters is in the Board of Directors and Members Advocates who make the month to month operational decisions. Over the years the BoD has dealt with court cases, provided legal witness, engineered bank loans and land purchases, sought governmental licenses and permits. That in addition to setting policy, planning events, mediating differences between Members and all the other “people skills” that go with an organization as large and diverse as Four Quarters.

Four Quarters adopted its current BoD structure in the fall of 1997, and it has served Four Quarters well. In that time we have had three different Presidents; Ed Mickle, Orren Whiddon and the longest serving, Derek Johnson. Orren has been on and then off the BoD two times and most of the BoD’s Members have similarly served in multiple capacities.

Late in 2005 the Board of Directors felt the urge to again reconfigure itself and bring new people into positions of responsibility. Derek and Orren have stepped down from seated Board positions; both to allow more personal time for themselves, but more importantly to give some other folks “a crack at it.”
Kailin Miller was voted as our new President. Wish her well, we checked to make sure the official tee shirt with the bulls-eye target on the back will fit her nicely. Roger Grandstaff has been named our VicePresident. Both Daniel MacNeal and Patricia Althouse have been voted to the seated Board posistions. Marcia Tirocke remains as our Secretary.

And we now have three new Members Advocates. Michael Leyer -aka “Finger”, our favorite interstellar visitor Ryan Ogle -aka “Doger” and Victoria Smith, who is bringing new rigor to our procedures. (we needed it!)

Do remember that the Board really does want to hear from the Membership. If you have an issue, speak to one of your Members Advocates. They are very insistent in presenting and advocating members views before the BoD. And you can always request a meeting yourself, the Board meets every Sunday morning after the Full Moon Service.
