A Four Quarters Fundraiser
Beltaine Members and
Guests Weekend in Review
Fri May 5 -Sun May 7, 2000
A New Moon Church Service weekend with
Lloyd Phillips and Marcia Tirocke
in Service to the Circle
We began with what is now a springtime tradition at Four Quarters, The
Washing of the Stones. A naming of our fears and losses and washing them from the faces of
the Standing Stones and from our hearts. Creating an open and clean space for the new
growth and possibilities of spring.

We planned for 120 to 150 people
and knew we would excede that by Friday evening. The best laid plans of the Kitchen Staff
for the Saturday Feast saw NightHawk of DreamTrybe, Pamela Alexander and Patrick Mc Carty
of Four Quarters shuttling three roasts among the camps working ovens in the wee hours, as
a third oven was pressed into service to handle the larger than planned feast.
Saturday morning 21 cubic
yards of concrete arrived in two trucks, bringing with them the culmination of a winters
worth of planning and much hard work; as we prepared to pour the slab floor for the Church
Meeting hall and Starvin Artist Cafe. With the able assistance and direction of Mike Mc
Gee and Jess Attilli of the Kohi Family Circle, not to mention the song and drumming of
our onlooking Beltaine attendees, all that concrete was placed and troweled. Building an
InterFaith Church of Earth Religion with our own hands and hearts.
Saturday was filled with workshops from the Membership,
sweats with Kohi at the Stone Peoples Lodges and because of the fine and warm weather the
swimming holes stayed full amid much high pitched squealing from the children.
The MayPole in the North Crook received its springtime clothing of
yards and yards of ribbon and the Feast served 180 meals of roast onions and beef rounds.
parsley potatoes and cuoscus. Ice Tea, homemade rolls, glazed carrots and West Texas
watermelon.
After such a spread many found an afternoon nap was just the thing,
while the Merchants Green stayed busy with quiet shopping and conversation. Staff got back
to work (it never ends) with kitchen cleanup and preparing the Stone Circle and Altars for
the Saturday evening Moon Service. And the last technical adjustments were made to our new
15kw generator, which would have its first full load test flight powering up our Main
Stage for the Saturday night performance.

As dusk fell the people began to gather in the Northeast of the Stone
Circle, as the heartbeat drum called them to the Moon. Gentle anointing and smudging
cleared the way for an exceptionally beautiful Circle and ceremonial, with Marcia Tirocke
and Lloyd Phillips as our Couple in Service to the Circle. It was a fine and moving Moon
Service, a fitting honor to the return of the Goddess as Maiden and the passion of her
consort.

And now for the final act in this very full weekend, and
a very fitting end for the symbols and mythos of Beltaine.
The Sunday morning wedding of Smilin Coyote and the Lovely Darline. And
this was the full legally binding nuptial, witnessed by our community and sanctified by
our Church. Because we do not elevate or ordain a specific person with the legal authority
of our congregation, this wedding was witnessed and made binding by our congregation
assembled in Circle, with the county license signed by our Church President, Derek Johnson
acting on our behalf.
A fitting and fine ceremony for an InterFaith Church of EarthReligion.
We hope you will join us in welcoming in
The Beltaine Spring at Four Quarters this coming year
