South: Allen Richardson
West: Dan Mac Neal
North: Patrick Mc Carty

Guardians: Tina Cobb, Shari Gewanter

Maiden: Marcia Tirocke

In Service: Derek Johnson, Kailin Miller, Pamela Alexander

INTENT: The intent of this ceremony is to pay homage to heroism, its relationship to ourselves and the divine.

At 8:00 p.m. the celebrants will line up across the Ridge Road from the North Path of the Stone Circle.

The Maiden, with a bowl of sage, or incense of her choice will stand at the entrance of the path, and smudge the celebrants as they enter.

Celebrants will come to the first Guardian, who will offer the challenge.

They will then come to the second Guardian, who will anoint the palms of their hands

The first celebrants to enter will be the Quarter Summoners in this order

1. Patrick Mc Carty, who will proceed deosil to WEST and stop.
2. Dan Macneal who will proceed to South and stop
3 Allen Richardson who will proceed to EAST and stop
4. Orren Whiddon who will proceed to North and stop.
****Staging note, at the East Quarter there will be a candle, at South will be a chalice of water, at West a bowl of Cornmeal, at North a fan of feathers

When all celebrants are assembled in Circle, The Priest will elevate the sword and the two Priestesses will ask the blessings of wisdom upon his path.

The Priest will then take the sword to the North Summoner, who will kneel as the Priest confers the blessing of wisdom upon him. North will rise, embrace the Priest, and take up the fan of feathers.

The Priest will repeat the conferring of the blessing of wisdom upon each of the Quarter Callers in turn. When he has completed blessing West, he will signal to North who will CAST CIRCLE from North to East, touching each celebrant with the feather bundle, last he will touch East who will cast circle from East to South, passing the candle above the hands of each celebrant, touching South who will cast circle from South to West, asperging each celebrant with the water, touching West, who will cast Circle from West to North sprinkling each celebrant with cornmeal.

When West arrives in North, he will set the bowl of cornmeal down, and all the other Quarter callers will set down their elemental tools as well.

North, now standing as East, will call East in the manner best suited to his heart. And so, South, then West and lastly North.

The Priest will declare the circle to be cast

A Priestess will invoke the ‘absent’ face of the Goddess, offering praise for the darkness.

The Priest will invoke the God

The Second Priestess will ask the strength and resolve of the Morrigan upon the hero’s/warrior’s path, invoking, evoking, or simply praising as she sees fit.

The Priest will speak of the hero, the warrior, the path, the choices, and the truth that as the Gods have committed heroic acts, so we were created to bear up the hero’s journey and tasks in their honor.

Starting with East, each Quarter in turn will speak briefly of a hero, either a God or a human, who embodies the qualities of their element (i.e. East, a great inventor, or explorer, a God as source of creation...and so forth) when each Quarter has spoken they will close with an "AHO" or "So mote it be" or other words to that effect, letting the next Quarter know that they have finished speaking.

When North has finished, The Priest will give a soliloquy on the hardships and sacrifices of the hero, while he speaks, a Priestess will go to East, The second to West; with a basket of stones which they will give to each celebrant in silence. They will return to the altar. When the Priest has finished speaking he will return to the South point on the Altar.

A Priestess will speak of the bones of the Earth, the Stones, and how each stone is both a gift and a sacrifice, burden and buoy. And how the path of the hero is paved with bones, of sacrifice, of things cast aside in favor of the path .of the hero. Of the uncertainty of choice, of the fear of doing without. Of struggle and hardship. She will speak of the depth of hurt and loss and fear.

When she has done speaking, the Priest will raise his stone to the moonless sky and cry out for balance, asking who will offer sustenance for those who sustain.

The second Priestess will speak of the honor and tribute that are the heroes rights. She will speak of honor, and cause, the desire to find that which is better, finer, stronger, she will speak of inspiration, and of courage, she will speak of trust and faith She will speak of the riches of the soul that sustain the hero, and she will remind all that the works of the mighty are sustained by the gifts of the humble.

When she is done speaking, the Quarter callers will begin to make sound, with small instruments, or their own bodies, ( bones, rattles, bells, sighs and moans) They are calling for what they need to sustain them on their path.

The Priestesses will take up Chalices

The Priest will take up the cakes and will speak that there is no blessing that can be conferred upon this simple feast greater that that of the hands that partake, and the souls it fires.

They will pass food and drink to all.

When all have been fed...

A Priestess will ask that each celebrant find a place symbolic of their journey to take their stone.

The second Priestess will ask that each celebrant find a place to nourish those who are in need.

The Priest will ask that wisdom, magic, and blessing be upon all who walk forth from this place, and will then thank the mighty ones,
The North Summoner will thank North and so through the Quarters.

The Priest will declare the Circle open.
